사업내용 1. Background
Since there is a complete lack of a healthcare safety net for unmarried single pregnant women in Korea, we established the healthcare safety net for unwed pregnancy women including healthcare institutions, private and public sectors. Over the year, we have found out that this model has provided accessible and helpful healthcare service for pregnant, unwed women.

2. Results

◇ case 1
Last year a 24-year-old young unwed pregnant woman was admitted in one of prestigious hospitals in Korea and about to give a birth in a month. During pregnancy just a month before delivering a baby, her baby was diagnosed of hydrocephalus. However, finding she was a single mother, the prestigious hospital wanted to transfer her to another hospital. The shelter, one of organizations in the healthcare safety net, contacted Boramae Medical Center which does not have pediatric surgery department but has a referral system with Seoul national university hospital. Having transferred to SNUH, the young mother gave a birth at the hospital and the baby has been treated, the cost of which was supported from the hospital as well. The healthcare safety net has expanded the range of services like mental healthcare for unwed mothers, as we found out unwed pregnant women often experiences difficulties finding right hospitals to received treatment for their mental problems

◇ Case 2
Last August, a homeless pregnant woman with mental problems went a hospital in Seoul. Having found out she was a single mother and had a multiple problems like showing a sign of premature birth and depression, the hospital was reluctant to treat the woman. The shelter contacted Boramae Medical Center, one of organizations in the healthcare safety net, and she was admitted at the medical center.

3. Conclusion
The Results show that the healthcare safety net for unmarried single pregnant women plays a significant role for the vulnerable. HSUP is more meaningful as the safety net is consisted of private and public sectors. It is so convincing that this model will be able to bring the light to the issue in Korean society.
